SCIENCE INNOVATIONS IN YOGA FOR WELLBEING

WHAT IS SENSES AND STILLNESS YOGA FOR WELLBEING?
Senses and Stillness Yoga for Wellbeing is a small innovative entity donating all profits to disadvantaged Balinese families, and founded with international accreditation.

It's roots stem from the partnership between Western sciences fused with the Eastern sciences, creating authentic innovations in Yoga which extend beyond just the physical practices. The name originates from the recognition that the richness of the senses provides a powerful doorway into a moment of inner stillness. In addition to classes, retreats and individual therapy sessions, Sense and Stillness Yoga shares its approach to wellbeing through training of health professionals and Yoga teachers.

HOW DO WE ENHANCE WELLBEING?
By reducing stress. As simple as that. That’s our overarching aim for every student.
Stress has been declared the world's biggest health problem by the World Health Organisation. Today's lifestyle creates a state of living in a constant "switched-on" state, producing an over-active mind and nervous system - stress!

Our Yoga is carefully designed to enable the mind and the nervous system to pause a little and thereby reduce the detrimental effects of stress on our mental and physical health. And science research shows that Yoga does indeed do just because: "yogascittavrttinirodhah": "yoga reduces the fluctuations of the mind."
- (Patanjali Yoga Sutra 1.2, circa 200 CE)

The KEY ELEMENTS in our Yoga are Safety, Breath, Movement and Connection.

SAFETY
- feeling and being safe physically and mentally is fundamental to being able to release tension
BREATH
- brings us into the present, modulates stress mentally and physically, and integrates
MOVEMENT
- a physical outlet to release some of our deeply held tensions
CONNECTION
- integrates the mind, body, breath and spirit, which reduces fragmentation that stress induces.
These KEY ELEMENTS are built into all aspects of our Yoga, whether its asanas (postures), mindfulness and meditation (present awareness), Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation), mantra (sound), pranayama (energy and breath), bandhas (energy locks), Yoga philosophy and psychology, or other tools and techniques, to enhance your physical and mental wellbeing.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Everyone. You don’t have to be a certain age, flexibility or fitness for our Yoga as we guide you to safely develop your own sense of awareness to go to where its right for you as an individual (and your medical advisor’s ok).
Age? All ages. Students range in age from 20s through to 80s and it's rare for anyone, regardless of age, not to have some niggling discomfort and stresses, so we highlight how to keep common vulnerable areas safe.

OUR TEACHERS
Co-Founders Vijoleta (yoga, neuropsychotherapist) and Ketut started Senses and Stillness Yoga and Retreats for Wellbeing nearly 10 years ago. It was created, and continues still, not as a business, but to share knowledge, experience and learning - to create wellbeing with a sense of inner harmony and balance.
21 people, including 2 in Singapore, have completed the highly skilled Senses and Stillness Teacher Training from which they graduate moore highly trained than the average training course. We began offering the courses in 2014 to selected students and they graduate firmly grounded in the knowledge, authenticity and heart needed to keep you safe and release tension for your wellbeing in the way that suits you best as an individual.

Ages and life experience of teachers: Aged late 20s to mid 60s, we have all experienced major life events and have our own limitations which helps us to understand people’s different vulnerabilities - and we also know that having a good laugh is one of the best medicines!

The graduates who choose to teach do so on a part-time basis while continuing their work and other commitments. Others combine Yoga with their other skills creating innovative practices, spreading a little care and wellbeing and helping to build resilience to stress.
May we bring a little care and wellbeing, and smiles, to you as well.
